As the calendar creeps closer to our time in Chicago, we hope you’ve explored what our fair city has to offer. From its rich gangster history and world-famous food scene, to stunning outdoor spaces, comedy, and vibrant cultural attractions, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your visit! Here’s a quick guide with local-approved recommendations and options for diving into one of our IPDLN conference activities.

Gangster History

Chicago has a rich gangster past, with infamous figures like Al Capone leaving their mark. You can visit landmark spots through our “Back to the ‘20s” gangster tour to uncover more about the city’s historic relationship with organized crime!

Food Culture

Chicago is a food lover’s paradise, be it fine dining or local street food. Sample both our tavern style and deep-dish pizza – or savor a classic Chicago-style hot dog – a mustard, pickle, and relish-filled delight (no ketchup!). Check out our “Foodie Like a Local” tour to get a taste of Chicago!

Scenes from the Loop

Chicago’s downtown, AKA the “Loop,” is a waterfront gem. Spend some time at Oak Street Beach or North Avenue Beach on Lake Michigan! Along the Chicago River, you can walk, dine, or hop on a boat to enjoy the scenic views. If you’d like to see our breathtaking architecture from the water, try the “Cruise & Views” boat tour. We can also recommend our guided “Segway Tour” or the “Art & Architecture Tour,” which will take you through our historic city center.

Of course, there is so much more to Chicago. You could explore its rich sports scene, catch a show at The Second City, the birthplace of improv comedy – or dive into live blues music at Kingston Mines. However you choose to spend your time here, we know that you’re in for a treat!
