Getting Around the Windy City

Home to some of the country’s most connected airports, Chicago is a breeze to get to, and just as easy to navigate once you’re here. Travelers arriving by plane will find themselves at either O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway International Airport (MDW), and from there, getting into the city is a matter of choice.

  • Want to save some cash? Both airports have local trains connecting to downtown Chicago (AKA the “Loop”). Catch the Blue Line CTA train departing from O’Hare, or the Orange Line CTA train leaving from Midway.
  • Prefer to keep things on four wheels? There will be no shortage of taxis waiting for you wherever you arrive (remember to tip your driver!) – or you can book a ride downtown using Uber or Lyft, both of which are popular options around Chicago.
  • Riding with a group? There are a myriad of shuttle and private car services you can book to/from either airport. A few options include Infinity Transportation, GOGO Charters, or GO Airport Express. Also, the recent word around town is that Uber Shuttle will be coming to Chicago sometime this Summer – so keep an eye out!

Once you’re here, the CTA public transit system, rideshare companies, and taxis remain great options in working your way through Chicago – there are even water taxis!

While you’re thinking about transportation, now is also a good time to secure your room at the
Fairmont Chicago – Millennium Park, the official hotel of the IPDLN Conference. For best availability and a discounted rate, book early.
